Public benchmarks show patterns. Private context changes the read.

A Rolex wait is rarely just a wait time. The same model can read differently depending on your market, AD signal, purchase context, timing, and whether the path is active, stale, weak, or still worth testing.

waitlist.fyi is built to interpret those signals from the buyer’s side — privately, directionally, and without treating spend, waiting, or going grey as the default answer. 

WHY THIS EXISTS

Allocation advice usually arrives in fragments.

A public benchmark can show what happened recently. An AD response can hint at whether the path is active. A forum anecdote can show one buyer's path. A grey market premium can show the cost of certainty. Purchase history can offer context.

These signals are useful, but incomplete on their own.

waitlist.fyi exists to connect the public pattern to the private path: whether your AD route is still worth testing, whether the path is going stale, whether the watch ask should change, or whether another path makes more sense.

The principle is simple: no random spend, no default grey, and no blind waiting. A read should be grounded in evidence and shaped by the context of your path, not generic advice.

How trust works

Private by default

The goal is to understand the path, not expose the buyer. Exact dealer names, exact spend amounts, screenshots, and personal identifiers are not required. Approximate context is enough for a first read.

Directional by design

Rolex allocation paths are not simple queues. Recent buyer outcomes can show useful patterns, but no read can guarantee an allocation or predict exactly what an AD will do.

Buyer-aligned in use

waitlist.fyi is independent and not affiliated with Rolex, authorized dealers, grey dealers, or marketplaces. There is no single right path: waiting, following up, switching ADs, adjusting the ask, or going grey can all be rational.

How a private read works

A private read combines recent allocation signal with the context of your own path.

Recent allocation outcomes

Public buyer reports create the baseline: what has happened recently for similar models, configurations, and buyer contexts.

Step 02

Your path context

Your target watch, general market, timing, purchase context, AD signal, and decision point change how the benchmark should be read.

Step 03

Human interpretation

The read returns a directional call plus a next move. When the evidence is thin, stale, or mixed, the read should say so.

What is not published

Private reads are not public posts.

Your submitted context is not turned into a public profile, public dealer review, public wait time post, or public case study. Public briefs do not reproduce individual data points, usernames, dealer names, screenshots, or identifying details.

waitlist.fyi may use anonymized learnings to improve future reads and public benchmarks, but identifying context is not published.

Where the data comes from

waitlist.fyi uses public, self-reported buyer outcomes, curated model benchmarks, and private path context shared by buyers.

The data is human reviewed and interpreted with context. It is not official Rolex data, not a dealer inventory feed, and not a guarantee of future allocation behavior.

How the data is treated

Public outcomes

A public outcome is treated as one buyer's reported experience with one watch path. Editorial commentary, rumors, and generic buying guides are not treated as allocation outcomes.

No history counts

No history counts only include reports where the buyer explicitly stated no purchase history, no prior Rolex, first watch, or similar language. Missing or ambiguous purchase history context is not counted as no history.

Survivorship bias

Public wait time data is biased toward buyers who received an allocation. Buyers who are ignored, quoted multi-year timelines, or left on vague lists may never become a clean wait time datapoint. Successful reports are still useful because they show what successful paths looked like. They do not prove which behaviors caused the allocation. That gap is why context and a private read matter.

Thin samples

Thin samples are treated as directional, not definitive. When a configuration, region, or buyer profile has limited reports, the read should say so rather than overstate confidence.

Freshness

Recent allocation outcomes that form the baseline are weighted toward reports from roughly the past year. New buyer outcomes are collected, reviewed, and incorporated over time so public benchmarks can be updated as the market changes. Public briefs show a last reviewed date and the approximate data range. Private reads are grounded in the most relevant recent buyer outcomes available at the time of review, with older, thinner, or less comparable data treated more cautiously.

A read is usually stronger when you can share the context that shapes the path.

Current scope

waitlist.fyi is currently strongest for current production Rolex sport models and early allocation paths, with the clearest public briefs around Submariner, Explorer, and Explorer II. Coverage also includes GMT-Master II, Air-King, and adjacent early buyer scenarios.

Reads are most useful when there is enough context to understand the buyer’s current path, not just the watch they want.

Coverage will expand as more buyer outcomes and private path reads are reviewed.
